Preventivne strategije

Kot navedeno že v prejšnjih poglavjih, obstaja splošno soglasje, da je uporaba DEHP kot mehčalca zaskrbljujoča in znanstveni sveti po celem svetu priporočajo omejitev njegove uporabe.1, 4, 7, 16, 24, 34, 39, 45, 46, 57, 58 Poleg tega je danes na voljo mnogo alternativ, bodisi uporaba drugih mehčalcev za PVC ali popolnoma drugačnih materialov, ki ne vsebujejo PVC.

To je porodilo številne mednarodne, nacionalne in regionalne dejavnosti, deloma z zakonodajnimi ukrepi, tako v zdravstvenem sektorju kot tudi mnogih drugih industrijskih panogah, kot so igrače ali hrana in pijača.
